ADBCC The People’s Residence Unveils New Permanent Home (Building) in Historic Mirvish Village
– Toronto, ON – On Thursday, June 3, 2021
A Different Booklist Cultural Centre (ADBCC) – The People’s Residence, provided major funding partners, donors and community members a glimpse of the future as they unveiled the first artist renderings and architect drawings for their new building in a virtual event. Housed at the magical numbers of 756 Bathurst St. the new home boasts 4 floors in a designated heritage building in the revitalized Mirvish Village by Westbank Corp. The evening was full of entertainment, community stories and featured a walkthrough of the space by the architectural collaboration between Ten-2-Four Architecture Inc. and Studio Of Contemporary Architecture Design. This marks a major milestone for ADBCC-The People’s Residence as things gear up over the next 16 months for the grand opening.
The new, state of the art, green and people friendly space has been designed with inclusivity and accessibility in mind. It will boast: community rental space, a drumming studio and more. The first of its kind cultural centre is committed to driving home the message of “we are stronger together” and invites everyone to be a part of a rich legacy and make the impossible, possible.
Buy-A-Brick Capital Campaign
Between now and Fall 2022, ADBCC-The People’s Residence remains open and has been actively transitioning their program online, while fundraising to meet their infrastructure goals. Their Buy-A-Brick capital campaign is a community driven fundraising initiative with a target to sell 2000 bricks and raise $200k. This campaign gives everyone a chance to cement their legacy and own a digital brick with their name permanently housed in the new space. To support this campaign, visit http://www.wearetpr.com.
